Check out the most important information on how to adjust the size of your TV to the room!
The living room is a place where we spend a lot of time. We eat meals there with the family or meet with friends. One of the permanent fixtures in the room is the TV set. It is worth finding out how to adjust the size of the screen to the size of the living room. How can this be done? You will find the most important information with us!
Can a TV set be too big?
While everyone is able to imagine too small a TV on which you can see little, not everyone takes into account that the device can also be too big. Sometimes size is the first and most important criterion that determines the purchase of a particular product.
A screen that is too big will make the eyes more tired while watching programs or movies. This leads to a lower quality of well-being, redness or dry eyes. There are also aesthetic aspects to this. Too large a TV in the living room will not be an added value to the interior design. Therefore, it is good to know how to adjust the size of the TV to the room.
What do the dimensions of the TV depend on?
It would seem that it is enough to buy the largest TV. Then the entertainment will stand at the highest level, giving a lot of pleasure to the viewer. Unfortunately, it is not that simple. Of course, if someone cares about the proper use of the device.
When choosing a TV, you need to take into account such issues as the dimensions of the TV vs. the height of the suspension, the distance from the screen or the viewing spectrum in relation to the distance of the device. This will allow you to buy the right product and take full advantage of its potential.
TV dimensions vs. suspension height
In the first case, there is a specific rule for calculating dimensions. A 42″ TV should be suspended at a height of 142.24 cm (56″). We are talking here about the distance from the floor to the center of the TV. On the other hand, the distance for devices with a screen diagonal of 55″, 65″ and 70″ is 154.94 cm (61″), 165.1 cm (64″) and 177.8 cm (67″), respectively. This means that the larger the TV, the higher it should be suspended.
Screen diagonal vs. viewing distance
The next consideration is the distance of the viewer from the TV screen. The same principle works here. If the TV is large, then so too should be the distance maintained by the user. Let’s look at the most common TV sizes. From devices with a screen diagonal: 32″, 43″, 48″, 55″ and 60″ you need to sit at a distance of at least: 1.37 m, 1.83 m, 2.05 m, 2.35 m and 2.56 m.
There is another issue related to the distance of the viewer from the TV – the viewing spectrum. The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) recommends1 such a distance that the screen fills a minimum 30° field of view.
For example, for a 55″ TV, this is a distance equal to about 2.30 meters. By maintaining the right distance, watching your favorite program will not only be more enjoyable, but also healthier, especially for your eyes.
At what price can you buy a TV set?
Now that you have an idea of what size your TV should be, you should also find out how much, more or less, the device costs and what actually affects it. The first factor is the diagonal dimensions of the screen – the larger, the higher the price of the product.
Another consideration is the technology used in the TV, the type of panel and features. Taking these criteria into account, the most you have to pay for 8K QLED TVs. Next in this hierarchy are OLED, 4K HD and 1080p LED devices.
